Welcome to International Business
The International Business (IB) Program at SDSU is consistently ranked in the top 15 programs in the United States. IB is an interdisciplinary major that culminates in a Bachelor of Arts in International Business. The program is jointly administered by the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Business Administration.
IB integrates business, foreign language, and area studies and prepares students for business professions in diverse cultural and linguistic environments. In addition to a rigorous set of business courses, students study one of 10 modern languages and one of 5 world regions in order to prepare themselves for a required semester abroad at one of our 35 partner universities.
IB Basics:
- Students complete a rigorous set of business, language, and area studies courses.
- In addition, all students must complete a semester abroad or complete an approved internship outside the United States.
- Semester abroad requirement is completed in the region of their selected language i.e. Spanish-Western Europe.
- Students may also complete their study abroad requirement by enrolling in one of several multiple degree programs offered in partnership universities in Mexico and Chile.
- The required internship can be domestic or international, but it must focus on international business.
- Required GPA to enter the major: 2.90, cumulative.
Beginning an Internship:
All IB students complete an internship. If you complete the internship abroad in your language/region of emphasis, you can potentially get it to count for both IB 495 (Internship course) as well as your Semester Abroad Requirement (additional hours required).
Preparing to Study Abroad:
Attend the Study Abroad Information Session no later than one year prior to the intended study abroad term (i.e. if you want to study abroad in the FA12 semester, you need to attend the meeting in the FA11 term).

Every student in the IB Program is required to go abroad. When possible the IB Program provides scholarships for students to assist with the financial obligation of living in a foreign country. The IB Program and all students would greatly appreciate any donations to be used for future scholarships for students to continue exploring the world learning new languages and learning about other cultures.
