ITS Update
James Frazee mentioned that SDSU Month is a busy time for ITS; Events are being broadcast over the Internet, as well as being archived for later playback "on demand."

Adams Humanities is the new home for Nursing and a patient assessment lab was finished over winter break.

Summer plans include 15 new Smart Classrooms and upgrades for 8 "classic" Smart Classrooms. ITS is trying to keep the amount of refreshed rooms comparable to the amount of new rooms. Our goal of keeping 80% of the general assignment classrooms on campus having smart capabilities is being met.

The 2nd Annual SDSU Course Design Institute will be held May 27-30th. Colleges are showing a commitment to this event by providing faculty with funding time to participate as fellows.

SDSU is planning on having 5 (Psych101, Geology100, Rec304, Rec404, and Marketing370) totally on-line GE classes this summer. These classes will be using the Wimba web-conferencing tool and will have an advertising blitz campaign just before registration time.

On-going discussions are being held on the Next Generation Vision of BATS. These have included talks/demos with SkillSoft and Atomic Learning about their products. Using these training products as a supplement to the BATS courses, could free up the BATS Instructors to assist with course designing assistance. ITS is also investigating related improvements in the Faculty Room.

Heidi Rubio will soon be leaving ITS/SDSU. Her farewell party is scheduled for 3/19/08 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Casa de Pico in Grossmont Center. Come one, come all!

Email and SSL
After 3/30/08, ROHAN and Sciences email users will need to have their mail clients switched to accommodate the SSL protocol according to John Ross. ROHAN is currently awaiting a firewall exemption.

Meeting Maker Upgrade
Due to a glitch with how the version of Meeting Maker works with Mac OS X, the planned upgrade may be pushed to later rather than sooner.
