EPO (John Ross)
There will be a communications to the Deans within the next week regarding the timetable for EPO. John Ross will get clarification to see if Macintosh computers are included in this timeline.
Information Security Plan (Felecia Vlahos)
IT Security Office posted the Information Security Plan on the security.sdsu.edu website. The IT Security Office has developed a plan to assist colleges in getting their faculty onboard to be compliant with the plan. They will meet with the Academic Coordinators and IT staff of each college individually to obtain as much information about the college faculty and their individual situations. The goal is to develop a one page college-specific document, from their Dean, to give to every faculty member with instructions regarding “what you need to do to be compliant with the Information Security Plan”.
The IT Security Office will also implement a campus marketing plan for the Information Security Plan.
Computer Help for Faculty/Staff
There is a link off the SDSU home page under “Faculty and Staff” which is called Computer Help for Faculty/Staff. It was noted that some of the links are out of date and should be updated.
ITS Report (Jim Julius)
- Ongoing prep for summer smart classroom work (see last month minutes: 15 new/8 upgrade)
- Working with college facilitators to strengthen smart classroom maintenance/support
- The Course Design Institute will be held May 27-30. The “One Day in May” kickoff is May 27th and is open to all.
- One Day in May:Designing Courses to Work Smarter
- Enticing students to do more learning outside class
- Energizing learning communities
- Embracing diverse abilities and perspectives
- Partnering with resource providers
- Maximizing the learning potential of the Internet
ITS planning process – ITS is dealing with budget cuts, increased service demands, and changing faculty needs. Planning includes:
- ITS leadership working with EDTEC faculty member Frank Nguyen on vision/strategy
- Engaging ITS staff in service prioritization and rethinking
- Working with EDTEC masters students to analyze faculty survey data
- Moving forward with “next generation” BATS and Faculty Room (see last month’s minutes)

CATS conference
The CATS conference was held on March 26th – 28th and was attended by Charles Hurley, Jim Julius, Andrea Saltzman, Chris Friedl, Diana Osborn, Bob Osborn, and Carol Redding. Some resources are now up on the conference site, with more to come http://cats.cdl.edu/catsconf2008. A share-out session is being planned for June.
Infoguides
The Library has developed disciplinary and course-specific Infoguides (see http://infoguides.sdsu.edu) which are on RSS feeds. These pages have the html code to embed Infoguides within web pages / Blackboard.
