ITSO Update
Felecia Vlahos announced the Vulnerability Management Plan (VMP) is in its final stages of
review and now includes a matrix on "How to Handle" confidential data by levels.
During the review process some of the "must do" and "should do" items shifted places.
The Senate asked for a concise list of the "must do" and "should do" items and
the list will be posted soon. It will be going to Peer Review this week and
will be there for two weeks. Then the VMP will be combined with the Policies
adopted by the Senate, the Incident Response Plan and the Security portion already
accepted. Once that happens, the entire document will then be referred to as the
SDSU Security Plan.
Discussion ensued on handling confidential data and the difference between
internal versus external sharing of data. Concerns were mentioned about
forwarding email to gmail and yahoo accounts. Felecia stated that how SDSU
manages email is an auditable point.
