The University Honors Program
Study Abroad Requirement
Study abroad is a priority for the University Honors Program and is one of the requirements for completing the Program and graduating with the Honors Graduation Certificate.
To meet the Study Abroad requirement, Honors Program students must complete one of the following pre-approved programs. More information about the following programs is available through SDSU’s International Student Center, and students should sign up for an Information Session to learn about all the study abroad options available to students. Students need to check with their department and an Academic Advisor to find out how the units they take abroad will be counted at SDSU.
1.SDSU Exchange Programs
As an exchange student, you are changing places with a student abroad. You pay fees for that student and he or she pays fees for you. If you are on financial aid, it can apply. Most majors can be accommodated. Semester or full year programs are available depending on location. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Applications are due by March 1 of each year for fall; October 1 for spring for priority consideration.

2. CSU International Programs
The CSU International Programs (CSU-IP) will guarantee you credit for all coursework successfully completed. However, how the credit applies to specific requirements depends on campus rules, so it's important that you see a study abroad advisor. Special assistance for IP students includes obtaining visas, arranging transportation and housing, and CSU academic advising at world-renowned overseas universities. All programs are one year in length and provide complete immersion and language development. A 2.75 GPA is required for most programs. From Australia to Zimbabwe, you're sure to find the right fit for you. Applications for most of the CSU International Programs are due February 1 each year. Exceptions include Australia and New Zealand, which are due May 1. www.gateway.calstate.edu/csuienet
3.International Student Exchange Program
The International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), to which SDSU belongs, provides an extensive list of information on study abroad programs that is organized by country, language, field of study, and summer programs. ISEP is designed so that students exchanged throughout the ISEP network pay all of their fees, including room and board, to their home institution and take up a place at a host institution, with no money changing hands. In most cases, ISEP participants are matriculated directly into the host institution and pursue courses with native students. A 2.75 GPA is required for most programs. http://www.isep.org
4. SDSU Semester and Summer Programs
Through various departments on campus, SDSU offers affordable semester and summer programs abroad for students. As programs, GPA and language requirements vary from year to year, visit the program finder for further details. Deadlines and GPA requirements vary for each program.
5. SDSU Travel Study Programs
Earn college credit by participating in a wide variety short-term summer and semester programs sponsored through the College of Extended Studies. For more details, visit http://www.ces.sdsu.edu/travel/ for detailed program information or contact the Travel Study Office at 619-594-6398 or via email at travel.program@sdsu.edu.
