Honors Program Student Society Mission Statement
As an advisory board to the University Honors Program and the representative body of its members, the Honors Program Student Society (HPSS) works to ensure that the program fulfills its mission statement and satisfies the expectations of honors students.
The HPSS supports the UHP’s promise to promote intellectual curiosity, creative and critical thinking, and academic excellence by engaging members with intellectually stimulating events, and working with UHP administrators to craft a curriculum that serves the needs of members while offering a liberal and interdisciplinary education outside of their core studies.
The HPSS advocates the program’s emphasis on equality, compassion, and social and cultural awareness by sponsoring service and scholastic events that demonstrate a global and sympathetic understanding of diverse backgrounds and issues.
Through these extra-curricular academic, service, and social activities, the HPSS strives to create a community of students who take an interest in being responsible and engaged members of their university, greater community, and world.
