October 22, 1894 voter registration form
Harrison
registered to vote on October 22, 1894. His voter registration form offered
many personal insights into Harrison’s life, including his height—5’3”—and
birth state, Kentucky. The registration form, with the hand-written entries
in quotations, states:

I, “Nathan Harrison” being duly sworn, on my oath do say that
the above is my true name, my age is “61” years, my height
is “5” feet “3” inches; complexion “dark,”
color of eyes “black,” color of hair “black,”
VISIBLE marks or scars if any, and their location “___________.”
My occupation is “farmer.” I was born in “Kentucky.”
I reside in “Pala” Precinct, “_____” Ward, county
of San Diego. My Post-Office address is “Pala.”
I am a CITIZEN of the United States. I WILL HAVE resided in the State
of California TWELVE months, and in the County of San Diego NINETY DAYS,
and in said Precinct THIRTY DAYS at the NEXT SUCCEEDING ELECTION. I am
NOT registered in any other county in said State of California.
