Terminology
Plan A
Plan A students are required complete a thesis or final project in order to receive a master's degree. Plan A status is
determined in consultation with the Graduate Adviser when the Program of Study is drafted. Plan A students are required to
enroll in 799A.
Plan B
All students required to pass a comprehensive exam in order to be awarded a master's degree are considered to have be on
Plan B.
Post Baccalaureate
Students pursuing a graduate level degree, credential, or certificate are considered post baccalaureate.
Probation
Students in any admission category will be placed on academic probation if they fail to maintain a cumulative grade point
average of at least 2.85 in all units attempted subsequent to admission to the university as a graduate student.
Readmission
A student who is disqualified from the university for any reason must file an application for readmission before the stated
deadline date.
Schedule Number
Five digit identification codes are assigned to each course offered at SDSU. Schedule numbers are listed in the class schedule
for each semester and must be entered when adding a course via Web Portal.
Special Action Admit Students
Students whose final transcripts from another institution have yet to be sent to Graduate Admissions. Students will not be
officially admitted until all previous coursework and awarded degrees are verified.
