University Grants Program (UGP)
The University Grants Program (UGP)was created to integrate three independent funding mechanisms through which faculty presently derive internal support for creative and scholarly research. These internal funding sources include: Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity (RSCA) awards, the Faculty Development Program (FDP), and Faculty Grant-in-Aid for Research (GIA).
The purposes of the UGP are to support scholarly research, and creative activities; assist faculty at lower ranks meet qualifications for retention, tenure, and promotion; permit faculty to bring advanced projects to conclusion; and help faculty members develop a research program that may be competitive for extramural funding.
The University Grants Program combines funds allocated from the Chancellor's Office, Academic Affairs and the SDSU Research Foundation. The Division of Research Affairs administers the program.
All Unit 3 members are eligible to apply for UGP funding. Note: Preference will be given to applicants who have not received a previous award through internal funding mechanisms and who have not yet achieved tenure.
