Foreign Language Requirement
Departments that require students to pass a foreign language examination may direct a student to complete one of the following options or a combination thereof: a departmental examination administered either by the department or by the appropriate foreign language department, the appropriate part or parts of the MLA-cooperative Foreign language Test, the Graduate School Foreign Language Test (GSFLT), or satisfactory completion of certain foreign language courses. The foreign language requirement must be fulfilled prior to advancement and graduation. The graduate advisor must submit notification of completion of the Foreign Language requirement to the appropriate evaluator in the Graduate Division.
