So what exactly is Rush? Rush is the process of leading women through all the sororities on campus in hopes to find a house, a new home, and a family that is the best fit for her. All women interested in rushing will attend every sorority on campus and will get a chance to meet some of the girls from each chapter, as well as get a house tour. It's a great chance to start meeting some of the women in the Greek System and get a feel for what each house is like.

A Sorority is a sisterhood of women that have gathered together to promote a common set of ideals and purposes. At the end of the 1800's women finally were able to pursue a higher education in college. College campuses were still predominantly male. In an attempt to overcome this, four women searched for encouragement and support as well as an outlet for their talents and dreams. These four women, Helen M. Dodge, Frances E. Haven, E. Adeline Curtis, and Mary A. Bingham were the founders of the first sorority, Gamma Phi Beta.

Gamma Phi Beta is a sorority founded upon the ideal or promoting the highest type of womanhood. To be a Gamma Phi Beta is to be a sister for life, our commitment to our sisters never end. As you will continue to give of yourself, Gamma Phi Beta will give back to you a life full of the most precious memories and eternal friendships.

Sisterhood is a way of life for Gamma Phi Beta, an organization that was founded to promote friendship among women students who share common values and ideas. Gamma Phi Beta sisters support each other in their endeavors, share hugs and smiles during times of disappointment and joy, and develop friendships that last a lifetime. Sisterhood also means sharing the responsibility for attaining chapter and individual excellence and the highest type of womanhood. As Gamma Phi's strive to meet this goal, they also remember that growing, learning, and tolerance are reflected in sisterhood.

PACE (Personal and Chapter Enrichment) is designed to offer growth opportunities through sisterhood, service, education, social, and personal development. PACE topics are presented at each chapter meeting. Short presentations are presented about programs, the sorority, academic, and leadership skills. Every other week we have a longer PACE that focuses on life and leadership skills such as career preparation, financial planning, and women's issues.

The Gamma Phi Beta experience also teaches members about cooperation, compromise, team spirit,a nd group effort. And decision-making skills are enhanced through participation in chapter government.
