Se souvenir des belles choses

Julie Lopes-Curval (2002)

Curval tells the stories of the residents of a resort town in northern France so renowned for its pebble-covered beach that the central character, Marie, works at a pebble-processing factory. As the town changes seasonally from being completely empty in the winter and crowded during the summer, the working class lives of the residents whose livelihoods depend upon the money spent by vacationers,
go on...

Zabou Breitman (2001)

 Two people with memory loss
find love in this unusual and tender dramatic comedy.
A shy woman named Claire checks herself into a special clinic. There, she meets and falls for a noted wine expert whose memory has also begun to fail him. Together they form a relationship with delightfully comical complications.

Une part du ciel

Guillaume Canet (2002)

Bastien works on a game/talk show called “It’s Tissue Time!” in which the goal is to make the contestants cry, produced by Jean-Louis Broustal. To Bastien’s surprise, Broustal stops ignoring him one day, and starts taking an interest in the young man’s ideas.  Broustal invites him out for a night on the town that turns into a weekend at his remote country estate where Broustal’s wife seduces Bastien. As the weekend progresses, it becomes increasingly bizarre and even sinister.

Bénédicte Liénard (2002)

A powerful film about the dignity of two women. Joanna is a former factory worker in a women's prison, and Claudine, still works in the mill. Her dehumanized existence in prison is comparable to that of her female friends on the factory assembly line, prisoners of yet another system that degrades and exploits women. Une Part du ciel  casts a steely gaze at an unjust system, and argues for a revolt against it.
