You have a loved-one or friend who has been diagnosed with AIDS. To help this individual and other members of the family, you will use the Internet to find out all you can about the disease, and then share this information with them in the form of 5 to 7 minute small group presentation.
Your presentation will summarize information on the specific area of the world where your loved-one or friend lives.
For the specific area of the world you are assigned to research (i.e., the fictitious home town of your friend or loved-one), you will work with a team to develop and deliver an electronic presentation that will summarize information on:
History and origin of the disease
Treatment options
Community support services
Global consequences
Your group will also turn in a hard copy outline of your presentation, the
outline will include all key points of your presentation and must include a “References” section at the end, listing all
sources of information in sufficient detail, such that your instructor could
easily obtain/consult these sources. You are free to use any resource
available on the Internet, ensure that the entire URL (web address) and
the date you accessed the information is listed in your references section. A resources page has been provided,
but is not an all inclusive listing of what is available on the Internet. You
are encouraged to conduct your own searches, a Search Tips section has been
provided on the resources page.
You will individually complete three journal entries about your
experience with the WebQuest.
You will individually write a response to an AIDS-related essay
exam question on the day of the final.
