Individual Essays
Each student will be responsible for being prepared to write an essay on the
final exam day in response to one of three possible questions. For example, one
question might ask the student to describe their position regarding AIDS
prevention measures such as condom give-away and needle exchange programs. The
essay might ask the student to address their position as it relates to whether
or not the federal government should be funding AIDS prevention programs both
here in the United States, and in foreign countries. Another question might ask
the student to detail the ways you would like to see money devoted to AIDS
educational and awareness-raising efforts spent if it was up to them to come up
with a spending plan where money was no object to be used either here in the
U.S. and/or abroad.
Important Notes about the Essay
- Consider and utilize information from the group presentations about what
it is like to be “Living with AIDS” in different parts of the world.
- This is an individual assignment and the essay must be written
independently.
- Write the class section, your name and day/time the class meets (e.g.,
John Smith, HIST 406- Monday, 4PM) on the back of the blue book. It will not be viewed until after grading of the paper
is complete (i.e., your paper will be blind-reviewed).
- If you use a laptop in class, each page should be numbered and written
using double-spaced, 12-point Times or Times New Roman font. Type the class section, your name and day/time the class meets (e.g.,
John Smith, HIST 406- Monday, 4PM) at the very end of the document on a new
page.
- You may bring a 3”x5” single-sided note card with you as reference
material.
