Biography
Oh the Places You Will Go!
Santa Barbara is where my history begins. Daughter to an architect and a teacher I had a pretty normal life. Had lots of friends. My extended family all lived within blocks of eachother. Then my father got hired to design hotels and my life turned upside down. Our family began our travels in Anaheim, LA where we prepared to move accross the United States. I considered my self a worldly person, who had traveled all over the West Coast, but I had no idea what I was in for!
Mom, Sister, Grandma and I decided to take a 3 1/2 week trip accross the US in our hip Aerostar Van. It was a perfect trip. Drive for 4 hours then stop early enough to utilize the pool at the hotel and have a great dinner!
We pulled into Montgomery Village, Maryland as the clouds darkened and the wind began to blow. Now for a child who broke her umbrella playing in the sprinklers this was an exciting yet fairly frightning ordeal. I learned to love thunderstorms. Especiallly being back in California where it hasn't rained in a year.
After Maryland we moved to New Jersey and spent a couple of summers in Texas. Then off to college in Florida!

The Life of a Biologist...
After receiving a Bachelors of Science from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida I started my biology career at Disney's Animal Kingdom doing behavioral research. My two main studies were the Tiger Agression Study looking at the aggression intensity between 6 collection Tigers and the Elephant Communication Study trying to determine the language of Elephants.
I then got hired as a lead on the Animal Presenter Team, which was part of the Education Team.
I continued on to the Bronx Zoo. Where I started out in Interpretation and then became a Bird Keeper. Being a keeper was a very fulfilling job. The animals never stop amazing me and making me laugh!
An opportunity popped up at the San Diego Zoo and I jumped at the chance! I was hired as a Bird Keeper on grounds at the San Diego Zoo. It was a wonderful change in culture, weather, and bird species! I began to realize that laughing and working with the animals just wasn't enough of a challenge for me and began pursuing a position back in the Interpretive sector. My new title is Interpretation Project Coordinator, and am loving every minute of it!
