Multimedia Tools – iMovie
The best way for me to learn a new program is to jump right in and explore. I attempted for this project to use tutorials and internet guides but, still rolling up my sleeves and diving in proved to be the most educational. I started by taking the video clips that Wes and I had taken for our movie project. The first step I battled was how to move the clips and chop them up. I began by going to the “Help” section and exploring the explanations given. Really through out the whole project, my knowledge of basic mac programs and the “Help” got me most of what I needed. The skills I learned were quite phenomenal. The program has some great capabilities for basic video creation. I was able to cut clips, move them around, import flash clips and overlay audio. One of the coolest features was being able to increase or lower the audio and music clips. With the three layers, I was able to have the visual clip, the background music and the narration all right there on screen, which made timing very easy. By the end of the project I learned a few tricks including inserting different transitions to the final credits. Overall the program is fairly user friendly. And having to do the project, losing the whole thing, and rebuilding it again, I would consider myself low level proficient. Below is the link to the video Wes and I created.
