Standing Internships

Merrill Lynch is: the largest brokerage in the world, with more than 20,000 advisors and $2.5 trillion in client assets. A leading provider of global corporate and investment banking services, including commercial lending, global high-yield debt, global equity and global M&A, A global leader in wealth management, private banking and retail brokerage, and a global leader in investment management, with approximately 50 percent ownership in BlackRock, which has $1.4 trillion in assets under management, in addition to the $589 billion in assets under management with Bank of America as of June 30, 2008. The intern will have a firsthand experience on how identify potential clients buy creating lists of prospects. We will then book an venue to have a education luncheon in which the intern and myself will fill with prospects and clients. After the event we will follow up with the attendee’s and ask for appointments. In the one on one follow up meetings with the prospect the intern will sit in the meeting, help gather information to create the financial plan, and also take copies of statements to do an asset allocation analysis. In the next meeting we will present the financial plan and investment proposal. The internship will be in the La Jolla office 3 days a week for 4 hours per day. In the San Diego District Sales Office of Mutual of Omaha, the intern(s) would be in a position of support for management, producers and staff.  The intern(s) will experience every aspect of working as an insurance and financial advisor. The majority of responsibilities will be to support top producers by helping to schedule meetings with clients, servicing clients, preparation of materials including applications, strategies, marketing pieces, etc., and working with pending policies including contacting underwriting staff, hospitals and third party companies.  Other than working with producers, interns will provide support for management and administrative staff. These duties may include preparation for meetings, preparation of materials, help with regular office activities and contacting producers, recruits, clients, etc. Mutual of Omaha had total revenues of $4,241,677,000 in 2007 and total assets of $19,446,747,000 in 2007. Steven P. Margulin CPA CFP ® is an independent wealth management firm that works within the Broker-Dealer structure.We do fee-based financial planning, as well as income tax preparation, for approximately 100 clients with about half of them of retirement age. We give input on most all of their financial decisions, so every day is different This position is for a financial planning assistant intern who also assists in our tax department. We need someone who can do (or learn to do) portfolio analyses and income projections, write financial plans, and learn to use income tax software to prepare tax returns. The successful candidate will need excellent math skills and the ability to do sustained detail work. He or she will need to be energetic, responsible, and able to work independently, have a strong work ethic, be organized, and able to meet deadlines. This is an internship, with full-time hours of 40 or more, depending on workload.The pay is $12.50 per hour. We would prefer someone who can begin working by December 15, 2006.et deadlines. Buley Wealth Management and Phoenix Private Wealth Management are branches of Linsco/Private Ledger the number one independent financial advisory firm. This internship opportunity offers the student up close exposure to an intimate financial planning environment. The student will participate in opening new accounts, communicating with outside companies on behalf of clients and learning how a financial planning company operates. The student will gain in depth industry knowledge, hands-on experience and a personal letter of reference. The internship also offers graduating seniors a unique opportunity to apply for a position as assistant to the advisors which pays a salary plus the chance to get licensed and build a book of clients under their guidance. The internship is located in Sorrento Valley, just minutes from the UTC area. The hours will be divided up into two mini – shifts per day which will each be three hours in duration. The first shift will go from 9am to Noon and the second will go from 1pm to 4pm. There will be no shifts on Fridays. We envision taking on four interns who will pick the two shifts per week that best suit their school schedule.
