Admission & Fees
SDSU Executive Financial Planner Advanced Certificate
Participants who successfully complete the program with a B (3.0) weighted average in the six courses will be awarded an Executive Financial Planner Advanced Certificate. As this is a CFP Board-Registered Program, the certificate qualifies you to sit for the CFP Board’s comprehensive exam. Students who do not earn a 3.0 average must repeat necessary classes as a paid student until their average meets that requirement.
Admissions
Admission Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from Regionally-Accredited University in the US or international equivalent.
- Completed Preliminary Departmental Application and CSU Mentor application. (Instructions for the CSU mentor application is send to students whose Preliminary Departmental Application are approved).
- Grade point average of at least 2.85 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree, or at least 2.85 in the last 60 units attempted (this may be waived in unusual circumstances)
- Experience: One of the below:
- Employed in Financial Services field with two years of client contact experience completed at time program begins.
- CFA, CPA, CFA or Licensed Attorney with experience.
- Worked in corporate finance or accounting with significant relevant experience.
- a Master’s degree in a business field with three years relevant experience.
- Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. The above requirements are guidelines.
Fees
- The current fee for the program is approximately $7,400. (3-unit classes are $1,236), a $55 application fee and a the costs of books. Students pay for one class at a time with no requirement to pay the full program cost.
- Students register via an on-line registration link prior to the start of each class. Full payment is due at time of registration.
- Registration deadline is midnight prior to the start of the second class session. A late fee will be charged to all students registering after this time. Registration after the third class meeting is by petition only and for serious and compelling reasons.
- Refunds are not automatic. An official withdrawal form must be completed and delivered to the College of Extended Studies Registrar' office. Refunds are made based on the refund schedule posted on the College of Extended Studies web site.
- Class Materials are an additional costs (average $130 per class or $780 per program).
- The University reserves the right to increase fees as necessary.
- The University reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment.
Disclosure: SDSU intends to offer the
complete series of courses. However, actual offerings of courses
depend upon sufficient enrollment and instructor availability. All
courses are also offered at the SDSU main campus. Certified
Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. awards the CFP®
certification mark only upon meeting their complete set of
