Submissions

Our reading/submission period is from September 1 to December 15 of each year. Submissions received before September 1 or after December 15 will be returned.

In addition, we only accept submissions reflecting the current issue’s theme. The theme for the Fall, 2008, reading period will be “The Artist in Wartime.” To see an example of the theme, read an essay which reflects on the role of “The Writer in Wartime.”

Recent themes have been: Freak, Animals, Abject/Outcast, and Sacred/Shamanic.

Please view sample texts from past issues in our catalogue to become familiar with Fiction International’s focus.

All submissions, including those from agents, must be accompanied by SASE. We exercise all due care in handling manuscripts, but we cannot be responsible for loss. Please allow one to three months for reply.
