Dr. Steven J. Loughrin-Sacco is Co-Director of the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), Chair of the International Business Program, and Professor of French at San Diego State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education from The Ohio State University, an M.A. in Teaching from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a B.A. in French from Western Illinois University. His professional experience includes one year as Director of the Center for International Studies and Programs at the University of Toledo, four years as Chair of the Department of Modern Languages at Boise State University, eight years as a professor of French and ESL at Michigan Technological
University, and five years as a high school French and Spanish teacher
in Illinois. Dr. Loughrin-Sacco is an expert in the field of the teaching of

French for business purposes and external funding for international education projects. He is co-author of a business French text/casebook entitled Québec Inc: Un Manuel de Français des Affaires, co-editor with Jayne Abrate of a volume published by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) entitled Making Business French Work: Models, Methods, Materials and is the author of numerous articles. He has been Chair of the AATF's National Commission on the Teaching of French for Business and Economic Purposes since 1996. In addition to his publication record, Loughrin-Sacco has been the director of over 30 successful grants totaling over $3 million. Funding sources include the U.S. Department of Education (nine grants from five different programs), the Coca-Cola Foundation, and the governments of Canada, France, Japan, Mexico, and Quebec. His current projects include "The National Business Spanish Examination" ($399,745 from the U.S. Department of Education) and "Taking French into the Next Century" ($351,972 from the U.S. Department of Education). He has consulted for numerous secondary and post-secondary institutions that include Duke University, Texas A&M, Southern Methodist University, the University of Arkansas, Eastern Michigan University, Central Washington University, the University of South Florida, and Boise State University.
