Test-takers will be scored by percentages for each of five sections, with an overall average of the five sections:
1. Basic knowledge (multiple-choice questions)
2. Writing
3. Reading
4. Auditory comprehension and speaking
5. Cross-cultural understandingSections 1, 3, and 5 will be electronically graded and results will be given to the test taker immediately after "submitting" the responses.
Sections 2 and 4 (Writing and auditory comprehension-speaking) will be scored based on three different factors:
a) Vocabulary (appropriate for the task?)
b) Focus (is the test taker answering the question?)
c) Grammar (is the test taker using a correct grammar when speaking and writing? Is he/she writing with the appropriate and necessary punctuation?)
To calculate the average, the test-taker must earn a minimum score of 60% for each of the four sections.. If one of the sections is not scored at 60% or higher, the test-taker will not pass EXIGE.
