There are additional course
expectations for 347B that I hold students to.
They support one course outcome—the development and display of
leadership behavior in preparation for entry into the professional workplace.
EXPECTATION: Students will come to
class professionally dressed and prepared to move.
1. For each instance that a student wears a hat, cap, or bandana (other than head coverings worn for religious reasons) or inappropriate shoes (non-athletic shoes) to a planned activity session (Labs 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10), 1 point will be deducted from the 10 points allocated for participation.
2.
It is expected for laboratory sessions requiring
activity (Labs 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10) that you dress in professional clothing that
allows you freedom of movement and does not distract from how others would
perceive you in a professional setting.
As such, you are discouraged from wearing crop tops, see-through
clothes, tank- and halter-tops, jog bras, or other revealing clothing. For each instance, 1 point will be deducted
from the 10 points allocated for participation.
EXPECTATION: Students will come to
class adequately nourished and hydrated.
3. For any instance where food, gum, or beverage is consumed inside the gym, 1 point will be deducted from the 10 points allocated for participation. (Water bottles are welcome.)
EXPECTATION: Students will punctually
attend class each session.
4. Students are allowed 2 tardies (arriving to class after the scheduled start time or leaving class before the scheduled dismissal), after which 2 points will be deducted from the 10 points allocated for participation for each instance of arriving late or leaving early.
5.
Absences are defined as non-attendance or
arriving to class after the first 30 minutes.
Point deductions (-3 points) for absences are taken off of participation
point totals until the student reaches 0/10.
Excused absences (no loss of points) are granted in cases of proven
emergencies. If a student is absent on
a day s/he is assigned to teach, there is no guarantee that another time slot
will open for that person to complete his/her teach.
EXPECTATION: Students will complete and
submit assignments in a timely fashion.
6. Submission of assignments is due at the start of class on the listed date in the syllabus. Each student may get 1 chance, if needed, to submit an out-of-class assignment up to 2 school days late with a 25% loss of points. After this chance has been used, late work will not be accepted and the points for the assignment will be marked as 0. (It is better to submit some portion of an assignment on time, then to submit nothing at all.)
Extra Credit: (a) carrying and setting up camera equipment
before class or breaking and taking down equipment after class (1 point per
assist with a maximum of 2 points possible); (b) taking and scoring 100% on a
course addendum quiz given at the beginning of Lab 4 (1 point); (c) winning the
tribal reward challenge (semester-long 1-point challenge related to punctual
attendance and professionalism); and (d) accurate maintenance and submission of
one’s personal point log (to be submitted with one’s Lab 10 write-up and if exactly
matching the instructor’s record worth 1 extra credit point. NO extra credit points (a-d) will be awarded
if the student’s participation points at the end of the semester tally 0.
