These instructions are not complete as they assume the user can follow on-screen instructions. As this program has many available options that are not presented here, you are encouraged to experiment with the different options and analyses possible.

There are three general steps that you will perform: 1) first you need to develop a Personal Nutrient Profile which is a personal listing of one's RDA requirements, 2) entering a dietary history into a Foodlist which is merely a listing of all the foods and their amounts that were consumed, and 3) analyzing and comparing the Foodlist against the Personal Nutrient Profile.

Creating a Personal Nutrient Profile

  1. Double-click on the Food Processor icon and then click on the button to Create a Personal Nutrient Profile. Click the Close button in the assistance window.
  2. Click on the Profile icon (second icon from left). In the next window, click New.
  3. Enter the requested information in the Personal window. When finished, click on OK. In the next window, click on Save.
  4. After clicking OK, your personal nutrient profile will appear. To print a hardcopy, click on the printer icon. Use the default printer.

Entering Dietary History into a Foodlist

  1. From the Personal Nutrient Profile, click on the Foodlist icon (first icon on left). Click New in the next window. Enter a Foodlist name (e.g. lastname) and click OK.
  2. At the Foodlist entry screen, type the name of a food item you want to enter into your Foodlist. You can enter an entire word(s) or partial word(s). After pressing Enter, a food item selection dialog box will open displaying a list ingredients meeting the search criteria. Highlight the desired food item and click OK.
  3. The amount of the food item and units are entered separately. You’ll first enter the amount and then press Enter, then enter the units and press Enter again.
  4. Include all the food items from each day of the dietary history on the same Foodlist entry list. When finished, click on the Serving Size icon (round yellow icon). Click on Average of button and enter the number of day in your dietary history.

Analyzing the Foodlist

  1. Click on the Analyze icon (green microscope). There are various reports that you can choose so one that gives you the specific information you want. Click on the desired report, which will become highlighted in blue; any other reports that are selected can be deselected by clicking on them. Afterwards, click View.
  2. This next window is asking what profile you to want the Foodlist compared. Enter the your Profile name and click Search. Select your Profile and then click Compare. To print a hardcopy, click on the printer icon.
