Physical Growth and Development

Purpose of the Course: To acquaint the student with the many factors that effect the development of humans from birth to maturity. Also to have the students develop an awareness of these factors in teaching physical skills to children in physical education, recreation, and sport settings.

Required Text: Human Motor Development: A lifespan approach. V. Gregory Payne and Larry D. Isaacs. Mayfield Publishers, 4th edition.

Grading Policy: Three examinations will be given. Note that the final will be comprehensive (exam's 1 & 2 20% each, final exam 40%). Several writing assignments will also be required and the instructor reserves the right to administer quizzes without notice to assure the completion of the reading assignments (20%).

            A= 90 -100%

            B= 80 -  89%

            C= 70 -  79%

            D= 60 -  69%

            F=  0  -  59%

 Make-up Exams: Will only be given when very special circumstances prevent attendance at the assigned time. Participation in extracurricular events doesn't constitute very special circumstances.

Academic Honesty: Any student's work revealing academic dishonesty will receive a grade of zero and documented submission on your student file.

Crashing Policy: Students will be added if spaces are available. Preference will be given based on GPA and units taken.
