Sigma Tau Delta
Students with a major or minor in English and a minimum GPA of 3.0 are eligible for admission into Sigma Tau Delta.
>>Visit the Sigma Tau Delta website
Membership applications for the national Sigma Tau Delta honors society are accepted throughout the year. A national membership means that you can claim this honors society on your graduate and job applications; you will be eligible for special scholarships and awards; you can participate in the national conference; you will receive special recognition at the English Department commencement ceremony; and you will receive a national honors certificate and pin. Both official members and nonmembers are welcome to participate in all local chapter events, however, which are run by the student-centered part of the organization.
Please note: if you want to be eligible for national scholarships or awards or the national Sigma Tau Delta Conference, you must have your application submitted by September 30 of that academic year.
Once processed, memberships cannot be refunded.
Applications should include:
- An initiation fee of $37 (U.S.); make checks to the Faculty Advisor (Quentin Bailey)
- A transcript showing a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- A form containing the information listed below:
- Name (provide name exactly as it should appear on membership certificates)
- RED ID number
- Home address (permanent, not campus)
- E-mail
- Anticipated year of graduation
- Class rank (undergraduate student, graduate student, or faculty).
Send one copy with initiation fees and transcript to:
