Our MA program provides opportunities for the advanced study of American, British, children’s, and comparative literatures as well as preparation for community college teaching and doctoral-level scholarship. Please note--the exam requirement is for students admitted to the program prior to Fall 2011.
Students may complete their MA degrees by taking a comprehensive written examination in American, British, Children's, or Comparative Literature. Exams are offered annually in May. To prepare for their MA examinations, students are expected to master reading lists compiled by faculty of core texts in their areas of specialization. Download reading lists (.pdf*).

Each semester, qualified MA students may apply to teach sections of introductory literature and composition courses at SDSU or to assist teaching faculty with grading. For more information, please contact Mary Garcia.
