August 12, 1918 - Robert Joseph Reiling is born with red hair, to Andrew (German) and Clara Jane (Irish) Reiling,

the youngest of 8 children: Anna Clare, Illene, Andrew, Thomas Gilthorpe, Bernice, Alma Louise, and William Joseph.

June 1937 - Robert graduates from Ward High School, Kansas City, KS

1940 - Robert meets Mary Josephine Walsh, a nurse who cared for him in the hospital when he broke his leg after being

hit by a car on his motorcycle and thrown over a telephone pole - not his first inury from being a dare-devil.
