Working title: Tribute to Wild Red

Author: Elizabeth Mack

Date: May 10, 2010

Subjects:

Over the course of a few days three people, who had no prior knowledge of the site were shown the website.

Think Aloud Task:

Express what you think of the website, the design, the content and the navigation then tell me the type of airplane Red flew in WW II.

Summary of Think Aloud

Two of the subjects immediately commented that they liked the colors and the photographs. All three indentified the purpose on the first page, either from the title, text, timeline or pictures. One asked what the little airplanes were for on the first page. Two tried to go to click on the photos on the timeline .

All three commented that the navigation was straight forward and easy to follow. They also said because of the Heading on each page they knew where they were and how to get back between the 2 menus. Two commented that the design was simple and easy to read.

One commented that he would like to see a Site map page leading him to all the links within the pages. One subject was very interested and asked me more about my fatherŐs experiences in the war. One subject was impressed by the links to the different airplanes.

Two subjects asked if there was video footage of the Honor guard at the funeral.

Summary Posttest Interview

By the interviews I found that it would be worthwhile to learn how to make links to the photos on the timelines and further expand the history and websites linked. Two of the subjects thought it would be better to have the timeline and the text areas switched.

Findings to be Implemented

When I learn how, I will link the timeline pictures to appropriate pages  or to a larger version with more explanation of the picture. Also I will eventually learn to post part of the video of the funeral.

I will also have 1-2 more pages with the Wartime and Career years more detailed with more links.

Findings that will not be Implemented

I will not include a site map. The site is not big enough or complicated enough to merit one.
