Mary Hepler Kehler

(Evening Herald, Frackville Edition, June 28, 1975)  This was the G.A. Haupt Jr. building at 25 West Frack Street. It was a brick building and has not changed much except for the white facade and canopy over the doorway. The windows on the left contain a model of a court house built by Clarence "Hunch" Brosius Casper Arder in the 1920’s.
George Haupt predicted that someday the court house would locate in Frackville and had his carpenters construct this model. As we all know, this never materialized, and this miniature building remained at the Haupt Mill on South Middle Street for many years.
The window on the right held a display of building materials and cabinets and was the show room for the Haupt Mill. Mr. Haupt's office was located in back of this room. Alberta Drasdis was the office clerk.
For many years Joseph J. Neds, D.D.S. had his offices in the rooms on the first floor of the left side of this building. This is now occupied by the John J. Crane Insurance Agency.
The Frackville Savings Fund had offices to the rear of this room for many years until they moved to 14 South Lehigh Avenue. It is now known as the Home Savings and Loan Association.
The Elks Organization was located on the second floor until 1963 when they built their new quarters on the corner of Arch and Third Streets. These rooms are now used by the Order of the Eastern Star and the Craftsmen's Club.
The Masonic Lodge has its rooms on the third floor. Squire Morgan had his offices in the right front room for several years and a ceramic school, "Carousel Ceramics" operated by Gail Robbins is now located here.
The small frame building on the left was owned by Mr. Thomas Reed and is now owned by the Kehler estate.
