| Schuylkill County, We're Coming Back To You |
(Evening Herald, Frackville
Edition, May 31, 1975) Have you ever
heard the song, "Schuylkill County, We're Coming Back To You?" Did you know
there was such a song?
This march was written by Robert Braun of the Braun
School of Music in Pottsville. Mrs. Braun resides in Pottsville and, when
I called to ask permission to copy this song, she was most delighted to
share it with everyone.
Wouldn't it be beautiful to hear this song again? I
am hoping the High School Bands would play it for the bicentennial parades
that will be held throughout the county.
Schuylkill County, our hopes arise anew,
Schuylkill County, our faith is all in you,
In your farm and coal lands, your high and lowlands,
Your waters crystal and pure.
Schuylkill County your praises loud we sing,
Ev'ry valley with echoes long will ring.
We may roam far away, But there's always a day
When we'll be coming back to you.
Schuylkill County, we're coming back to you
A Pine clad forests, and hills of hazy blue,
Wheat fields swaying, in breezes playing,
And hillsides plied with daisies.
What is Schuylkill without its breakers grey,
Wealth of mountain poured forth by night and day.
With a song that is strong, We will all sing along
"Good fortune is coming back to you."
Sons of Schuylkill, march forward as to war,
Staunch and loyal, beside the knights of yore,
With banners flying, high hopes undying,
Your spirit always will conquer.
Sons, of Schuylkill, you've won the world's acclaim,
Ev'ry climate bears witness to your fame.
In your work or your play, You have always a way
Of bringing the honors back with you. |
