Problem, Needs, Opportunity

Most high school female basketball players have dreams of one day playing a sport in college. Often times by the time the athlete reaches his or her senior year they are not equipped with the right classes or information that is needed to enter college the following year. It is because of this that many of the students are not eligible to go to college. This site is dedicated to helping high school girls who have aspirations of playing college basketball. This site will provide information in what type of classes these girls should take, when they should take their SAT’s and Act’s, and also provide a link to certain colleges and women’s basketball program.

Audience

The main audience of this site will be the high school girls who are participating on the basketball team. This site can also be a resource to coaches so that they can guide their athlete as they go through high school.

User Needs

When talking to women who played on my college basketball team, I asked them what they felt was the biggest hurdle they reached when trying to go to college. Many of then answered not knowing all of the requirements it took to get accepted in to college. Many spoke of:

Not knowing which classes were eligible, to be cleared through the clearing house

Not knowing when was the appropriate time to take the SAT and ACT. And what scores were acceptable for college.

And finally many of the athletes spoke of not knowing what the difference were in the requirements for going to a Division I school versus a Division II school.

Environment

Most of the girls will access the site from their home. Along with from the home I think its important for coaches to access the site in their office with the athletes so that the athletes know that site is there with information that is extremely important to there collegiate careers.

Resources and Limitations

It might be difficult to get all the eligibility information onto the site. Because the eligibility requirements change from year to year it will be very difficult to keep the information current. Also because the eligibility requirements change it will be difficult to make sure that all the information is correct. Because most of the information will come from different web sites I will have to post many links,

General Solution

Because this sight is very useful I do not think I will have a hard time finding an audience. Girls will want to come to my sight to make the transition form high school to college easier
