EG 3 - I was also responsible for filling out order forms for art supplies coming from Japan. I translated several letters from Spanish to English that will be used in future operations. I also revised several documents written in English that they use in daily communication with their business associates. The owner of the company was getting ready to depart to Holland to negotiate contracts, and he asked me to type some letters that he could use as an introduction of his business operations.
Overall, I think that Basic Group had a clear idea of how they would best benefit from my skills. They wanted me to perform the tasks that other employees could not or would not do. I know that my bilingual abilities and knowledge of the American business culture allowed me to perform some of the more challenging tasks asked of me. In general, on a daily basis, I worked very closely with the assisting manager in all my assignments. I also worked closely with the secretary, as it is customary in Guatemala for the secretary to do all of the traditional clerical functions.
