Aztec Men Withdraw from Row for the Cure
San Diego brush fires lead to Aztecs' withdrawl
POSTED TUESDAY, OCT 23 2007 AT 4:45 PM
The San Diego State Aztec Men's Crew team announced today that they will be withdrawing their entry from the Row for the Cure. The San Diego Row for the Cure event is put on by UCSD in as a fund raiser for the Komen Breast Cancer fund and was set to be the first race of the year for the Aztecs this Sunday, October 28th. The announcement comes after San Diego State closed all campus facilities for the remainder of the week as a result of the large fires currently blazing in the region. These fires are the largest in county history and have caused the evacuation of several of our Aztecs.

This comes as a slight blow to the program following the cancellation of San Diego Fall Classic earlier this year, as they were not able to obtain proper permits to hold the race. No announcement has been made yet about the following races next weekend, Club Championships on November 3rd, and Newport Autumn Rowing Festival occurring on the 4th. Expect these races to go on as scheduled, but stay tuned for further details.

The Aztecs would like to send out their deepest regards to all those affected by the fire and their families. Best wishes and stay safe!
