Dr. Dwight Reynolds
Dr. Dwight Reynolds of University of California at
Santa Barbara presented a talk entitled “Christians, Jews, and Muslims:
Musical Interactions in Medieval Spain.” Dr. Reynolds, who is Associate
Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at UCSB, recently
spent two years in Spain studying the medieval musical interactions between
Christians,
Jews, and Muslims.
February 16, 2006: Dr. Kristen Stilt
Dr. Kristen Stilt of the University of Washington Law School, a
recognized authority on both Islamis Law and Constitutional Law and a
frequent media commentator on the Iraqi Constituition, gave a talk
entitled "Analysis of the Iraqi Constitution." The
talk was organized in cooperation with the Fred J. Hansen Institute on
World Peace and the Charles Holster Institution on World
Affairs.
March 7, 2006: Dr. William Granara
Dr. William Granara, the Director of Harvard University's Arabic
program, presented a talk entitled "Al-Andalus: Myth and History
in Modern Arabic Literature, Culture and Thought." In his
lecture Prof. Granara argued that the image of medieval Spain serves a
particular purpose in the writings of Arab novelists as well as in the
works of Arab filmmakers.
