Bial traces the origins of Cajun people from their life in France, to their current life here in the Louisiana bayous. He touches on such aspects as religion, housing, music, and of course, food. There's even a recipe for Jambalaya! The author also includes a bibliography of suggested readings on Cajun history and culture at the end of the book.
