Bile, Raymond. Cajun Home . Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1998. $16.00 hardcover. ISBN 0395860954

Have you ever eaten Cajun cuisine? Do you know its origins? Regardless of your age, this book will answer those questions. Bial's exposition on Cajun culture is very good. Bial traces the origins of Cajun people from their life in France, to their current life here in the Louisiana bayous. He touches on such aspects as religion, housing, music, and of course, food. There's even a recipe for Jambalaya! The author also includes a bibliography of suggested readings on Cajun history and culture at the end of the book. Children and their parents can enjoy reading this book together

Recommended reading level: Age 8-12
