Phineas and Althea Hall move to Maine for the summer with their father, a college professor.   Mr. Hall has taken a job at Vandemark College when a wealthy benefactor bequeaths a small Egyptian collection to the college and appoints Mr. Hall as the curator.   The collection is nothing peculiar but it does contain a mummy, a very mysterious mummy.   Soon Phineas and Althea find themselves smack dab in the middle of a whodunit tale.   When the mummy ends up stolen and Althea goes missing, Phineas faces extraordinary circumstances in order to save his sister and his father's job.  

The Vandemark Mummy twists and turns as the thief is uncovered.   It is an enjoyable read for young detectives.   A tale of sibling differences, their battles and common bonds.   For the young reader, they will find themselves turning the pages with excitement and ease as the brother-sister duo undercover the mystery of the Vandemark mummy.
