Simon, Seymour.  The Moon. Photos NASA. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2003. $17.95.   ISBN 0-689-83563-9, 27 pp. www.SimonSaysKids.com

Upon opening the cover, the reader is captivated by the beautiful pictures provided by NASA.   These images help build the foundation for Simon in describing the science behind the moon.   Simons gives a brief overview of man's relationship with space and earth's history with the moon.   He explores conditions on the moon such as weather and gravity, providing examples so that young readers might relate.   He explains the existence of meteor craters and the space missions of the sixties all in simple informative language.   Overall The Moon is a great introduction into the world outside of Earth and a great basis for small children to begin their relationship with science.
