This humorous book is about a boy who gives a mouse a cookie and then has to accommodate the mouse's needs that arise from eating the cookie. Numeroff uses simple language. The story provides valuable lessons of cause and effect.
The illustrations are detailed, colorful and fun. Felicia Bond uses white backgrounds that help make the illustrations stand out. The author and illustrator have worked on a series of books together and each person's contribution supports the others.
