Howard, Vivian, ed. Hot, Hotter, Hottest: The Best of the YA Hotline. Lanham, MD: Scarecrow, 2002. $32.50. ISBN 0-8108-4240-8.

The YA Hotline, a newsletter created by graduate students in Dalhousie University's School of Library and Information Studies, puts together a compilation of its most representative issues in Hot, Hotter, Hottest. Together, the newsletters touch on topics of great importance to Young Adults and those working with them. The topics addressed range from the seriousness of eating disorders to the importance of cars in the life of teens. Each issue provides a male and female teen perspective as well as a thorough professional analysis of the topic. Also, each newsletter provides ideas and suggestions for the incorporation of these teen interests in the library environment. Annotated bibliographies and resource lists are provided at the end of each newsletter. Because the issues go as far back as 1989, an updated list of resources for each of the issues appears in the back of the book.

Hot, Hotter Hottest is a wonderful resource for anyone working with or living with Young Adults. The information provided allows adults the opportunity to understand the teenage perspective and can serve as a guide to effectively support young adults and their interests. Unfortunately, because it is a Canadian Newsletter, only a few of the resources given are found here in the United States. Still, the publication is of great value to anyone working closely with teens.
