  • ENGL 606. Tricksters and Iconoclasts in 20th-Century Children’s Poetry. Prof. Joseph Thomas.

Course would feature such authors as Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, John Ciardi, Theodore Roethke, and Gertrude Stein. We would be reading Theory by Lee Edelman (No Future: Queer Theory and the Death Drive), Leslie Fiedler (Freaks: Myths and Images of the Secret Self), Lewis Hyde (Trickster Makes This World), among others.
