In the heart of Finnish Lakeland, Mikkeli is close to nature and offers magnificent scenery of lakes Saimaa, Puula and Kyyvesi. The city's famous market place and rich cultural offerings are relatively close range from the capital area of Finland. Mikkeli can be in 2.5 hours by car from Helsinki. By rail or bus, the trip takes three hours. As they are in the heart of the Lakeland, there are many possibilities to go in cruises on Lake Saimaa or rent a canoe or towing boat for your own trips. In Mikkeli it is possible to play golf, tennis and do other sports.

More information about Mikkeli and activities and happenings in the area can be found from the following sites;

During the weekends you can explore Finland and the neighboring countries of Sweden, Estonia and Russia. To Estonia and Sweden you can travel by ferry or course line from Helsinki. For more information about Finland, check the following links:

Profile : The Consortium of Universities for International Studies, comprising of more than 30 accredited US public universities, offers programs for undergraduate students to study abroad in Italy . Programs provide meaningful, international experience while allowing students to stay on schedule for graduation. Rigorous, high-quality courses are taught in English and emphasize current international events. Program professors are drawn from the Consortium's member universities. Students are encouraged to study a language and participate in executive lectures, plant tours and unique personal development opportunities.

Locale : CIMBA, the Consortium's affiliate organization in Italy , offers undergraduate programs at its campus in Paderno del Grappa. Forty-five kilometers north of Venice , the full-service campus includes classrooms, cafeteria, residence halls, computer labs, and modern athletic facilities. The campus offers students the cultural experience of living in a small, Italian community while enjoying convenient access to the celebrated art and historical treasures of the Veneto . The Veneto , with its major cities of Venice , Padua , Vicenza , Verona and Treviso , is the most economically advanced region in Italy .

Academics : Programs are offered in Business, Economics, Communication and Journalism. Program offerings go beyond traditional classroom content. Seminars in European culture, critical thinking, international relations, and the European Union are integral components of all programs. Guest speakers and company tours provide students with opportunities to meet international business leaders. An important component of program philosophy is the faculty's dedication to an environment that minimizes the separation between instructor and student. Students receive academic credit through the University of Kansas . Students have the opportunity to earn four different certificates during the semester program, including certificates in leadership or international business.

Accommodation : Students live on campus in dormitory style housing. Both single and double rooms are available. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom. Students may request particular roommates through the roommate selection form.
