Profile: AUT is New Zealand 's most contemporary university, with a unique profile reflecting their history and innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and research. Located in the heart of Auckland city, AUT has over 24,000 students. This university is outward-looking, developing and adapting to the social and economic realities of which it is part. There are currently 4000 international students from 65 countries studying at AUT. Locale: New Zealand is a beautiful country with a small population of just 3.8 million. It is made up of three main islands, the North Island, the South Island and Stewart Island . Its small size makes getting around the country quite easy and there are various forms of transport to choose from. Auckland is a vibrant multicultural city beside the sea, sprawled between two harbors and two oceans, the Tasman and the Pacific. It is the main centre of business and industry and its international airport has daily flights to the USA . It offers the best of both worlds- all the buzz, entertainment, nightlife and cultural activities of a big city, as well as an outdoor lifestyle with numerous sporting and leisure activities. About one million people live in Auckland. Academics: AUT Faculty of Business is one of the largest business schools in New Zealand . All the business programs have a ‘real world' approach with the emphasis on applied learning. 11 business specializations are offered, in Accounting, Advertising, Business Economics, Commercial Law, eBusiness, Finance, Information Technology, International Business, Management, Marketing, and Tourism. Other academic areas include: Hospitality and Tourism, Languages, Social Sciences, Art & Design, Engineering, Math, Health, Environmental Sciences, Sport and Recreation, and Maori studies. Language of Instruction: All classes are taught in English. Accommodations: AUT offers a full range of accommodation options. These include University Halls of Residence, Hostels, and Home Stays for those who prefer to live in a family environment. As a general rule, students should expect to spend about $2500-3000 per semester for rent and utilities. |
