Dear CBA Students
There are several ways that you can find an internship or job abroad:
|
 |
- CBAbroad also offers internships via exchange programs in Singapore (full-time for a semester), at John Cabot University and Deakin University (part-time while you are taking courses), in Germany at the Heidelberg summer program, (full-time right after their summer program), Universidad Europea de Madrid (during the summer immediately following a Spring semester exchange), Switzerland (full-time) and Germany (full-time).
- The Institute of International Education is pleased to announce that it is partnering with the Korean Ministry of Education, Science, & Technology in their efforts to promote international exchange and to bring more American students to Korea.
IIE will be assisting the Korean government in publicizing and recruiting for the "Teach and Learn in Korea" (TaLK) Program which is a study abroad opportunity that is open to both undergraduate students and recent college graduates.
The TaLK Program is supported by funds 300 TaLK Scholars each semester to teach conversational English in rural Korean elementary schools. The program provides a 1-month orientation for the TaLK Scholars in addition to round-trip airfare, a settling-in allowance, a monthly living stipend of approximately $1,300, health insurance and organized trips to historical locations in Korea.
Given the generous terms of the program this is a unique type of study abroad opportunity which can provide international experience for students with financial need who might not otherwise be able to go overseas.
The TaLK Program website can be found at: http://www.talk.go.kr/. Applications must be submitted by June for the term beginning in August 2011 and by December for the term beginning in February 2012. Additional information for the program is available via e-mail request to talkkoreapr@gmail.com
- The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals is a full-year work-study scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange. CBYX annually provides 75 young Americans with an understanding of everyday life, education, and professional training in Germany. The program begins in July and includes two months of intensive German language training in Germany (no prior German language knowledge required), four months of classroom instruction at a German university or college of applied sciences, and a five-month internship in a participant's career field.
The CBYX for Young Professionals program is intended primarily for young adults in business, vocational, scientific, engineering, technical, and agricultural fields, though applicants from all fields are encouraged to apply. Participants actively participate in securing their internship positions with assistance from CDS's partner organization in Germany, InWEnt, and are expected to cover incidental expenses as well as represent the U.S. diplomatically while abroad. For more information, please contact CBYX at cbyx@cdsintl.org or +1 (212) 497-3522.
We hope that these opportunities open the world for you! Sincerely,
Dr. Teresa Cisneros-Donahue
