Dear CBA Students,
There are several study abroad funding options:
- Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarships SDSU students who have applied, or have been accepted, to participate in a study abroad program outside the United States are encouraged to apply for the Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarship. Preference will be given to applicants who are participating in an SDSU-sponsored study abroad program, applicants who are participating in programs that award academic credit, and applicants who are pursuing majors that require participation in a study abroad program. Application materials will be reviewed by a committee composed primarily of current SDSU students, with an Associated Students staff member serving as the scholarship committee chairperson.

- Professor Jeffrey W. Glazer, who teaches at SDSU's Management Deparment, and his wife have established a $1,000 scholarship for a student or students to study abroad (more than one scholarship could be given out if there are several worthy candidates).
The ideal candidate would be someone going on Semester at Sea and who is a management major, but all business majors studying abroad are eligible.

- By outside agencies that offer study abroad scholarships, fellowships, and grants;
- Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded. For a complete list of countries visit this site.
Boren Scholars represent a variety of academic backgrounds, but all are interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili. For a complete list of languages visit this site.
Boren Scholarships are funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), which focuses on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. Applicants should identify how their study abroad program, as well as their future academic and career goals, will contribute to U.S. national security, broadly defined. NSEP draws on a broad definition of national security, recognizing that the scope of national security has expanded to include not only the traditional concerns of protecting and promoting American well-being, but also the challenges of global society, including sustainable development, environmental degradation, global disease and hunger, population growth and migration, and economic competitiveness. Please note that SDSU has an office that will help students complete a competitive application. Please visit their website for more information.
- Scholarships for business students
- Scholarships that are offered directly by our partner universities: Yonsei University at their Wonju campus and Chung-Ang University in Seoul Korea
- You may check other scholarships/grant listed at the International Student Center
- Financial Aid Program Students are often surprised to learn that they may use their state and federal financial aid on approved study abroad programs. In fact, over $280,000 in aid was distributed to study abroad students last year alone. For students participating in one of SDSU's own semester or year programs (including ISEP, CSU-IP, exchanges and departmental programs) in addition to their state and federal aid, students may also take departmental or university sponsored aid. For details on this, please refer to Financial Aid's web site by clicking here
Good luck on your search!
Sincerely,
Teresa Cisneros-Donahue
