FACULTY LEADERS

This program has two faculty leaders. One professor will teach a business course (see below for syllabus) and the other a General Education Explorations Humanities course.

Dr. Martina Musteen will be one of the two professors leading the program to Béthune, France. Dr. Musteen have played an important role in internationalization of the curriculum by developing both undergraduate and graduate course in International Entrepreneurship.  She has taught in Italy and Taiwan and have attended conferences and workshops in a number of countries.  In the summer of 2010, one of her research papers was nominated for the Best paper at the International Business Academy conference in Rio De Janeiro.  Dr. Musteen has won numerous teaching awards (e.g., the national Olympus Emerging Educator Award  in 2008; the SDSU College of Business Administration Faculty Recognition Award in Teaching  in 2009, and the SDSU Senate Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010).

She is committed to student learning about international business through both theoretical and applied methods.

THE PROGRAM

  • Accommodations:Housing will be provided at the university housing
  • Béthune itinerary*** Please note that meetings and group activities may be changed at a later date due to scheduling conflicts. However, the final itinerary will be consistent in scope and tenor as this version.

INFORMATION MEETINGS:

  1. Thursday, February 16 from 3-4 pm, at Engineering Dean's Conference Room (E-203E)
  2. Wednesday, February 29th, 3-4 pm at Engineering Dean's Conference Room (E-203E)
  3. Monday, March 12, from 12-1, Love Library, 431 (LL-431)
  4. Friday, April 6, at 4:00 pm, Love Library, 431 (LL-431) MANDATORY ORIENTATION

ELIGIBILITY

  • Undergraduate upper division students from any major for the General Education courses and for the business course for management, marketing and entrepreneurship students
  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Officially matriculated at SDSU

CREDITS

There are two courses offered in this program. Students may get up to six units of academic credit if they decide to take these two courses. The courses are:

    1. International Entrepreneurship (for management, marketing and entrepreneurship students)
    2. Women in French Civilization (Explorations Humanities)

COST:

  • $670 for two weeks

    The package includes:  
    - Accommodations in double occupancy - single rooms are available for an extra charge
    - Breakfast every day and most other meals (see itinerary)
    - Wine tour and tasting
    - City tours
    - Orientation
    - Educational programming

  • This program will have an optional visit to Paris for three night after the program for a cost of about $500 and includes hotels, transportation, entrance to attractions.

The package DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Tuition for the courses pay at the College of Extended Studies: each course will be $930. Students can take one or both courses offered. If students take both courses the cost will be  $1,860
- Air transportation to France (about $1,400)
- Travel and health insurance (about $50)

APPLICATION DEADLINE

  • Students must pay the program cost of $670 during the mandatory orientation that will take place in Friday, April 6th from at 4:00 pm, at Love Library
  • Course registration will occur April-23-27(we will give you details of this during the mandatory orientation on April 6th)

MANDATORY PROGRAM ORIENTATION

  • Once a student has apply for this program, he/she must attend a mandatory program orientation that will take place on Friday, April 6th from 3-4 at Love Library, room 431.



HOW TO APPLY

If you are interested in the program please complete this application. You must attend the April 6 mandatory orientation with your payment.
