Real Stories and Experiences Study Abroad Euromed

Jennifer Ly

"I remember prior to going to France, I was bummed about not being able to study in Spain (my first preference) due to certain issues. But at the same time, I knew that studying abroad was going to be a good experience nonetheless.......and I was right.

I studied in Marseille, France during the spring semester of 2007. I lived in an international dorm and was able to meet people from all over the world. I was surprised about being able to become such good friends with some people in such a short period of time (and I still keep in touch with them).

I was lucky enough to be able to travel to 2 dozen cities within 9 countries, visited a couple friends from SDSU that were studying in Madrid, hitch-hiked a couple boats (and a few cars) in Marseille and Cassis (and got stung by a jellyfish), couchsurfed in Lisbon and London (and got a nice city tour standing on the back of a bicycle of my British couchsurfing host--check out couchsurfing.com), visited friends in Munich and Athens whom I had met in Marseille, tried new food, learned about different cultures, and even effectively communicated in Spanish.

Studying abroad was probably one of the best times, if not, the best time of my life yet. I have no regrets (except maybe not for extending that semester into a year) and definitely recommend anyone who has the chance to study abroad to DO IT!"
