Background:
Martha Doran, PhD, CPA (az) is an associate professor in the School of Accountancy and joined the SDSU faculty in 1996. She is currently developing a new endeavor for the College of Business called the Center for Accounting in the Public Interest (CAPI). Before coming to SDSU, Martha served on the faculties of Stephens College in Missouri and Arizona State University.
Prior to her academic career, she served as a Controller and later CFO for three closely held businesses, and was a Partner in the CPA firm of Acosta, Strassels and Company. Martha teaches a variety of accounting courses, and has developed a course in Fraud Examination for both undergraduate and graduate accounting majors. She joined the EMBA program in fall 2000, the Sports MBA in spring 2006 and teaches Financial Accounting in both programs.
Martha's research interests include ethical decision-making, experiential learning, field-based consulting, computer-assisted instruction and communication skills in the accounting profession. She has written many journal articles, an introductory financial accounting text and three learning activities books: Keys to Business Success, Activities in Managerial Accounting, and Activities in Financial Accounting.
