SAN DIEGO Thursday, May 03, 2007 – San Diego State University College of Business Administration (CBA) announced today that Finance Professor David Ely will serve as its new director of graduate programs. Ely replaces Ken Marino who served as director for 10 years and is staying at the college as a faculty member.
Ely has been actively involved at the CBA for over 20 years and has been a finance professor since 1998. He has taught a wide range of courses at various levels within the Finance Department and has served as an advisor on numerous master’s degree theses and has served on numerous committees within the college and the university
“As director of graduate programs I plan to implement the new MBA program, explore the potential uses of distance-learning methods and grow enrollments,” said Ely. “I'm excited about working with CBA faculty, the graduate office staff, and students to take the campus graduate business programs to a new level.”
“David is well-respected around campus and I'm sure he will make great contributions to our graduate programs,” said Dean of the College of Business Administration Gail Naughton. “His exceptional service to the academic community is rare and extremely commendable.”
In April, U.S. News & World Report ranked two of the college’s graduate programs among the top in the nation. The International Business program was ranked for the first time at number 21 and the Entrepreneur program was ranked number 27.
Ely received his Ph.D in Economics from Ohio State University.
