Distinguished Real Estate Academician/Practitioner
Joins SDSU as Visiting Chair

SAN DIEGO, Monday, September 18, 2006 – San Diego State University’s College of Business Administration announced today that Dr. Patric Hendershott will serve as visiting chair in its real estate program. 

Most recently, Hendershott served as chair in property economics and finance at the University of Aberdeen’s School of Business and a professor emeritus/former “Galbreath Chairholder” at The Ohio State University.  He is currently a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and has had visiting professorships at many universities such as: Stanford University, New York University, University of Florida, University of Melbourne and Bond University in Australia.

Hendershott has consulted with many major organizations including the World Bank, U.S. Government Accounting Office, National Association of Realtors, and PriceWaterhouse Coopers where he served as part-time director.  He has held multiple positions with the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, including president and editor of its journal, and served on the Board of Directors for the National Tax Association and the American Finance Association. 

Dean of the College of Business Administration Gail Naughton said, “Patric Hendershott will be a great contributor to our expanding real estate program.  As both a strong practitioner and researcher, he is a perfect match for our program and is well-respected in the fields of real estate and finance. We are thrilled to have someone of his skill and experience join our team.” 

Hendershott received his Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University.  He is a sought-after presenter and prolific publisher with five books and over 140 articles in journals such as Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics.  In two 2004 and 2006, he was listed as the second and fourth most cited author in the above listed top real estate journals.

Hendershott said, “Through hiring new faculty and working with both faculty and local real estate leaders, it is my goal to take SDSU’s real estate program to a new level.”
