Luis Cruz named to Board of Directors for SAN DIEGO (October 1, 2009) - The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) today announced that Luis M. Cruz has been named to the College’s board of directors. Cruz holds the position of region president, Southern California for Verizon Wireless. Cruz is an SDSU alumnus having earned a degree in business administration with a specialization in finance in 1988, An outstanding student, Cruz graduated cum laude and was also honored as having graduated with distinction in his major. “As a leader in one of the U.S.’s most influential business organizations and as an SDSU alumnus, Luis is in a unique position to understand the specific needs of our students and the important role that an education from an accredited business school plays once these students get their diplomas,” said Dr. Gail Naughton, dean of SDSU’s College of Business Administration. “Luis’s experience and input on these and other matters will be extremely valuable to us as a College and to fellow board members.” “As a SDSU graduate and former resident, I feel a responsibility to give back,” said Cruz. “In these challenging times, I welcome the opportunity to work with other board members, faculty and staff to examine the issues facing the College. Together we’ll make a positive impact on our business students and their leaning experience.” Cruz’s tenure on SDSU’s College of Business Administration’s board of directors becomes effective on October 1, 2009.
